Temp 25 F this Morning.........Coldest day this fall!
Wildlife update
I spotted a four point albino buck on the waterfront yesterday morning Oct 21st. . He was trotting along the waterline as the tide was receding. There actually were two young bucks, but only one was albino. I believe there is another name for an albino animal with some brown and this one had some brown around its head area. Old Saying “Don’t shot a albino deer as it will bring you bad luck”. The reason I noticed it so easily was because the white seem so bright in the morning sun. It almost looked fake white with the morning sun shining off him. This is second time I have seen an albino deer. The sand pipers are still here in large flocks of what I think would be in the hundreds. Old saying “The stripers are running when the sand pipers are here”. Also, there is approximately 50-60 ducks on the water here every day. Last year the ducks left in mid December. I watched with binoculars as a bald eagle chased a duck and knocked it from the air into the water. The eagle proceeded to try to catch the duck, but every time the eagle would swoop down, the duck would go under water. It is amazing how intent a eagle becomes and focuses only on that particular duck as prey while nearby is another 20 ducks. This continued for about fifteen minutes until the eagle finally tired and gave up. Can anyone tell me what kind of ducks these are?
Such is life here on the Basin.
